A SUPER STATE

EFFECT OF GENEVA PROTOCOL.

ON LEAGUE OF NATIONS

AN AFRICAN VIEWPOINT

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT

Received May 8, 8.50 a.m. CAPETOWN, May 7. In the South African Assembly the Prime Minister, Mr. Hert/.og, replying to questions, stated that tlie Gnion Government views as regards the Geneva nrotocol, closely resembled those of the other dominions and the British reply to the League of Nations. Mr. Hert/.og expressed the opinion that the protocol would effectually prevent America’s entry, into the League, as it amounted to the creation of a supei state. He feared that the League, in view of the abstention of America, Germany and Russia, would diner little from an historic alliance instead ot being a league of peace. —Reuter.
