FARMER’S OBLIGATIONS.
UNDER MACHINERY ACT.
MUST OBTAIN CERTIFICATES
Even the farmer with his milking machine is obliged to obtain a certificate from the inspector of machinery, and a warning to those who have failed to comply with the Inspection of Machinery Act, was issued at the Hawera Magistrate’s Court to-day, when the Inspector of Machinery (Mr H. McGregor) proceeded against three offenders.
In stating the first case, the inspector said that in the past the Department had not taken action against those who failed to lift certificates, but in future it was intended to do so. This applied to milking machine engines, and in fact to any engine no matter how small was the horse-poWer. The real trouble was not so much the engines, but the belting. <> The three offenders proceeded against were William Duggan, J. Robinson and A. Lanko.w, and each were fined £l, with 7s court costs and 5s witnesses’ expenses. In the case of Lankow 3s for expenses of service were added. Add Municipal Elections. — dtr
