ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

At the x coroma 1 enquiry into the death of Clive Tweedale, aged 22, who died of injuries sustained by being knocked down by a motor car on Monday evening, the evidence showed that deceased was affected by deafness and failed to observe the approach of the motor car, whose lights were dimmed. Approaching the railway crossing the visibility was bad and the motorist, who was on the lookout for the train, did not see the deceased until he was upon him. The coroner commented that it was a pure accident and the motorist was driving c-arefully. He stressed the need for the public exercising caution when crossing roads, especially at night. PALMERSTON N.. April 29. At the inquest into the death of •John Murphy, a linesman employed by the Power board, who fell from a transmission pole at Eeilding on Friday last, and who died en route to the hospital, the coroner’s verdict was that deceased died of a broken neck caused by the fall. The coroner commented on the fact that deceased failed to observe the definite instructions issued to all employees, by not having worn the body belt while on the pole. The coroner urged the board to see t-liat all employees obeyed the regulations.
