SOCCER CODE. TROPHY FOR NEW ZEALAND. •Y OABT.E—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, April 26. At the annual meeting of the Football Association the chairman, Air. Clegg, presented the Australian representatixe, Mr. Gibbs, with a handsome trophy for transmission to New Zealand, similar to those already presented to South Africa, Australia, and Canada. Air. Olegg said that the trophy carried on it the best wishes of the council for the success of the game in New Zealand, and the prosperity of its governing body. He regretted that the team now on its way to Australia would be unable to visit New Zealand, but it was possible thatN’ew Zealand’s wishes would l>e met in a future occasion.
Air. Gibbs in accepting the trophy echoed the regret of the chairman that the English team would not tour New Zealand. This had caused profound disappointment in that country. On behaif of New Zealand he accepted the trophy with gratitude.—Reuter. K A PONG A CL ÜB. A general practice will be held by the Xaponga Club, commencing at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow, Wednesday, when a' Possibles versus Probables game is ta be arranged to se'eet the respective teams for Saturday’s games. A junior seven-a-side is also to be picked to represent the club at the Stratford tourney on Thursday.
