OWNER. AND HORSE DISQUALIFIED. A LOCAL CASE. The questioning by the stipendiary steward (Mr. T. hi. Davy) of the bona tides 1 ot" it" horse' entered £ts Takapo, and saddled up for the Motvuoa Handicap at the Taranaki Trotting Cluri s annual meeting at New Plymouth, on Saturday, • April 18, has led to the disqualification for tiiree years of Harry Daniel, of Waveriey, and the black gelding Sweet Rrince. At N<ay Plymouth at the time of the incident an inquiry was lieid and adjourned, but the .horse was not allowed to start, being held by the committee. After ' further investigation, howevei-, the judicial committee of the Taranaki .Trotting Club reports its findings as follow: “After deliberation it was resolved unanimously": ' • “(1) That Harry Daniel, of Waveiley ibe disqualified for three years for nominating the black gelding Sweet Prince (Sweet Patch —Princess Ena) as Tekapo (Brooklyn—Nancy) for two events to be decided at the Taranaki Trotting Club’s meeting on Aiiril 18, 1925.,
‘•(2) That the black gelding Sweet Prince, entered as Tekapo, he disqualified for three years. •‘(3) The committee would point out that from the evidence and information supplied by the association it would appear that Air. Iverrisk, of Ohangai, was the registered owner of Sweet Prince in 1918. Mr. Iverrisk Sold the horse to Mr. J. E. Bourke, of Alton, but the transfer was not registered with the association, as required by rule 153. Air. Bourke passed the horse on to ATr. Archie Cameron (since deceased), of Fit ham, .hut “no transfer registration 1 followed. 1 -fin ilib' late Air. Cameron’s name Sweet, Priiice fan unplaced in the Stratford Handicap at the Waimate Plains meeting on Easter Monday, 1921. Then the .horse was sold to Air. .“Charles Richatds, of Kakaramea. Air. Richards sold to Air. \H. Atom son, of Waverley, and then Mv. Daniel, of AVaveiley. bought the horse from Air. Morrison.' No attempt was made hy either of these individuals to effect registration with the association, there is liot 'the slightest clouibt that this horse was the one nominated by Daniel as Tekapo. •‘From authentic information supplied by the Trotting Association, Tekapo was, purchased from Air. Scott, of Kai Iwi, and taken to Queensland by Mr. Ireland jn 1914. and there is no information that the horse returned to the Dominion.”
