'HUSBAND’S TERRIBLE ACTION
BY CABLE —I’RESS ASSOCIATION—COPYttIGITf LONDON, April 23.
Samuel Hudson, aged 46, a turuer, prior to being sentenced at Old Bailey Court to four years for throwing sulphuric acid over his wife, whereby she los? the sight of one eye, and was otherwise permanently disfigured, dramatically declared that what happened was the climax of two years of anguish. When lie threw the acid he had no control over his physical, actions. ‘‘M j mind was tortured by concentration on my wife, and my predominating thought was I must take away what made her attractive to other men. I thought I would then have her for myself. I did not think of any other consequences.” Hudson asserted that soon after marriage his wife began going t*o dances with other men. He became heartbroken.
The judge, in summing up, said these were most trivial reasons lor the jealousy. The accused had committed a. terrible action without a shadow of justification.—A. and N.Z. Cable Assn.
