DEATH OF INJURED GIRL
NO TRACE OF HUDSON
(BV TELEGRAPH —PK ESS ASSOCIATION.) OAMARU, April 26. Olive Rutherfopcl, aged 18, who was gravely injured when a motor-car ran over a cliff at Kuiow early on Wednesday morning, died last night. Philip Hudson (aged 19), the other occupant of the car, has not' yet been found. Two cartridges were found near the scene of the accident, one by the girl’s body and the other beside the wrecked car. A trail of blood led down the hillside from the girl’s body and across the river-bed to the river. A man’s hat was found with holes in the top, which might have been caused by a bullet. No rifle was forrnd. The police have been dragging the Waitnki River and scouring the country for miles, but up till to-night no trace of the missing man has been discovered. Miss Rutherford’s body was brought to Oamaru to-day and a post mortem examination was made to-night. The inquest will be opened at Dunedin tomorrow and adjourned after formal identification of the body, which will be taken south in the morning.
