NOT RIPE FOR, CONSTITUTIONAL RULE. ALFONSO DEFENDS DICTATORSHIP. BY CABLE -PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT PARIS, April 23. King Alfonso, in an interview, defended De River’s Dictatorshi.p. He admitted there must be a limit to the present anomalous .position, but he felt the country was not ripe for constitutional Government. He added that the problem of the day is whether Parliamentary institutions can defend the existing order against the Soviet spirit. Italy was the first country to realise they could not. Spain had arrived at the same conclusion. "Who knows whether other nations will not eventually shelve their constitutions for a time ?
