Details concerning the absolute control of the marketing of produce wede given to tjie Farmers’ Union Elxecutivg, by Mr. W. Grounds (chairman) and" Air. Goodfellow (member of the Dairy Control Board). Air. Grounds .said that Tooley Street merchants. welcome::! the scheme and were prepared to advance credits on shipments. After years qf striving, the co-operative system was. now on trial, if it could hot stand up to the ordeal, it must take secondary place. Air. Goodfe'llow raid that the board was not engaged in an experiment. The method obtained in London for many years and was working satisfactorily. Dairy farmer's need licit fear that the board would . not make advances as generous as the merchants had clone in the past. It was essential that large quantities of butter and cheese should be ini London, so that advantage could lie- taken of a favourable market. The holding back of shipments in New Zealand must be- done only after the most careful consideration. ' After hearing the statements, the executive passed: a. resolution of the fullest confidence in, the Dairy Control Board.
