Catenians, a Roman Catholic society, at its annual St. George’s Day banquet in London, following the Oatenian practise throughout the country, had the first toast ‘The t Pope and the King.” The Lord Mayor, who is a Roman Caihofic. made the statement to-night that ‘‘l was invited- to attend, hut when * heard that the loyal toast would he honoured after that_of the Pope 1 refused to- go. I won't attend any banquet in. the capacity of Lord Mayor where the loyal toast is placed after tho toast of the Pope.”—A. and i\.Z Cable Assn.
