NORMANBY SCHOOL JUBILEE.
; (To the Editor). Sir, —Some years ago the late Mr. Eelix Hunger informed me that he arrived in Normanby in 1875, and that the first school was opened during the following year by Mr. Harre. The School log-hook confirms the statement of this worthy pioneer. As to the teachers and the order in which they followed one another, I give the list in the correct sequence. They were Messrs Harre, Weiss, Thompson, Harre, McCutchan, ’Hill, McCutchan, Harre, and my predecessor, the late R. P. Clarkson! It will be noted that Mr. Harre had three innings and Mr. McCutchan two. The school records show the dates of arrival and departure of each of' these teachers.. I shall be pleased to show the log-book to any old resident or old pupil interested in the begin-, nings of our settlement.—l am, etc., G. W. MITCHELL. Normanby School, April 23.
