MANAIA.
(From Oi.ir Own Correspondent). NOVELTY BALL. The Waimate Plains seaside noveltj ball, held last night, was a decided success in every respect, which reflects great credit on the ladies’ comriiittee. The decorations were hall, extended from the ceiling, was a beautiful dome, from which hung a great variety of eo'ouied streamers, which were also extended to all parts of the room, and with the lighting effects gave a. very nice tone. The grand march was well worth seeing. The stage was also beautifully decorated, by Airs T. Hotter and her committee. First-class music was -upp ied. bv Taylor’s Premier Orche_stra, and extras were played by willing helpers. During the evening many novelty dances were submitted on the piogramme. and were much appreciated by all present. Messrs J. A. Hansen, E. Long and H. Burgess very ably carried nut the duties of M’s.C. Special credit is also clue to the ladies’ committee for their splendid efforts, and especially Mrs J. A. Hansen, chairwoman, and Miss S. Lewin, secretary, for the very fine manner in which they carried cut their many duties.
