A PROFITABLE CONCERN. (by telegraph—press associatiox WELLINGTON, April 22. The Wellington City eleetrie lighting department’s financial year just closed appeared, to have been one of the most successful recorded. The credit balance amounts to £19,945, as compared wjitli £12,868 for last year. The revenue amounted to £209,611, an increase of £59,420, -and' the working expenses totalled £116,149, an increase ,of £26,043»,' These figures include electricity supplied to the tramways. WELLINGTON TRAMSr WELLINGTON, April 22. The Wellington city trams last year carried 40.265,579 passengers) an increase of 1,533,545 on the previous year), and ran 3,462,364 miles. The revenue, per car mile was 28.48 d, and the working expenses 21,78 d.
