VALEDICTORY. Air. E. Crabtree, who with JMrs. Crabtree is leaving for an extended holiday abroad- entertained the memjers of the Eire Brigade, Fite Board," Borough Council,'• and 'representative citizens at the Coronation Hotel last evening. There .were about fifty, guests , present and the menu was an excellent one. Afr. H. A. Nut-tall, superintendent of the fire brigade, was in the chair. After dinner was finished and the usual, loyal toast honoured, Air. .Nut- c tal, on behalf of the member's’ of the' fire brigade, presented ' Air. and - Alrg;' *. Crabtree with*, a handsome rose -bow In doing so he referred to Air. Orab- _. tree’s work and interest'in the'brigade, . ' Many times in the old hand reel days- ’ lie had assisted to pull the reelLto th 6. i ..." hres. Later on lie got tired of .pulling...., a; the reel, and did whai no other citi- , ~. zen in New Zealand had done, lie presented the brigade with a new -Ford" truck, and thus made, its work . easier-^.,-and more efficient. He had been an honorary member of the brigade for 1,1 years, and hud been present atiall - f ' tires that had occurred in that'-."time; ■ with one exception. The members of the brigade, said Air. Nuttall, would never forget Air. . Crabtree’s practical interest in their work, and the. very best wishes for a pleasant trip- were ' extended to Air. and Mrs., Crabtree.*c-. - The health of the .host and Jtqstess vvas then drunk arid they’ were corded musical honours. The gathering then adjourned to the' 7Foresters’ Hall , where a lengthy .-toasts < list was honoured .. : ■:
