LONDON, April 13. “She laughed in my face and called me a poor 1 001. 1. lost 111 y head, and as ive were kissing good-night, I pulled out a razor and swept it slowly across her throat.” Tints passage appeared in an alleged confession, submitted to the West London Police Court when Ernest Rhodes, aged 18, appeared on a charge of murder. Rhodes’ statement detailing the events leading up to the tragedy described how, when leave taking after a cinema performance on Thursday evening, Grace Blackballer, whom lie had known for two months, teased him about her going with other boys. Rhodes told her he loved her and that slhe was only playing with him and he would do something desperate. Grace said: “1 meant to tell you 1 love you.” l She wanted to kiss me again. Then I saw blood on. the razor, screamed and rail away. I did .not know until 1. read Saturday’s newspapers that Grace was dead, and decided to make a clean breast oi the Rhodes was remanded. —Aus.-N.Z Cable Assn.
