What memories are recalled by the scenes shown in the picture Monsieur Beaucaire, showing the great actor Rudolf Valentino in the fascinating character of Monsieur Beaucaire, to all those who are familiar with the striking story as written by Booth Tai kington. The meteoric rise of Beaucaire from humble circumstances to a position in which he swayed the fortunes of some of the greatest people in the countries of England and France is well known to most readers, and how his ready wit and many attractions secure him the favour of the great in the land. The picture story is of transcendent interest and ho'ds the attention of the spectators from beginning to end. The many wonder)ul and beautiful scenes, the romantic love stories and experiences of this courtier and his fascinations are the theme of admiration to the many thousands who have seen the photo-play. The gorgeous dresses of the ladies, the striking costumes of, the gentlemen and the general air of gaiety and brilliance that pervades every scene provide an irresistible attraction. The photographic effects are excellent, and the whole work throughout is such as to make the picture an outstanding feature in the history of pieturedom in Hawera. It is no 'wonder that the large audience was delighted. The musip provided by the orchestra also was very fitting and’ specially good. “Monsieur Beaucaire” will be repeated to-night and to-morrow at the Opera House. THE GRAND TO-NIGHT. “THE EIRE PATROL.” A terrific explosion in mid-ocean, a stirring fire and rescue, and a remarkable fight scene are tlie outstanding incidents in “The Fire Patrol,” the feature production at the Grand tonight.
