RIFLE SHOOTING.
TARANAKI MEETING. ROBERTSON WINS BELT. A tricky wind, which at times was difficult to judge, had to be contended with at the Rewa Rewa rifle range at Now Plymouth yesterday, when the Tai’anaki Rifle Association's annual meeting was concluded. Rifleman A. G. Robertson, of Hawera, and Riiflemtanr G.'liarrison, also of Hawera, tied for the greatest number of points in the grand •aggregate, but in the fire off. Robertson, was the winner by one point, and therefore established his right to the champion belt, golld modal, and £6. The scores were: Robertson 5,5, 2,0, 5 —17; Harrison 4,2, 3,3, 4 —16. The belt was originally presented by Mr. T. King, .and on being won outright by 'Rifleman D. Roots, was again presented for competition. Rifleman G. A. Stringer, with a score of 241, obtained the highest aggregate in the tyros, and thereby secured a silver medal and £Jf in cash. Rifleman Robertson, of Hawera, with 137, also annexed the association’s .silver challenge cup and £4 iwarded for the highest score in the long range aggregate. Further winners and southern successes in yesterday’s shooting were as follow: New Plymouth Match, JO shots at 1000 yards.—J. B. Brunt nfi (Hawera) 47, £3; G. S. Webster (Waverlev) 46, £2; G.
