POLLARD AND BRAN.
“ABSOLUTE RUBBISH.” A. AND P. ASSOCIATIONS' PROTEST.
“That the attention of the DirectorGeneral of Agriculture be drawn to the absolute rubbish now on the market under the names of pollard and bran, and that he be asked 'to have the necessary action taken to ensure to the consumer a commodity containing a fair food value,” was a remit agreed to by delegates from Taranaki A. and P. Associations, who met in Stratford yesterday. Mr \Y. B. Grant (New Plymouth) said it was peculiar, but a baker could get as much bran and pollard as he wished, despite the fact that there was such a scarcity. Mr H. A. Hunt (Stratford) said he had been informed by bakers that they lid not have any. Millers were feeding the market to keen the price up. Mr Grant said that bran was often sold as pollard. It seemed as though inything, including old sacks, was put into hen and pig food. Air Hunt spoke of pig food he had received which was full of rubbish. He had brought- the* matter to the notice uf the authorities, but beyond the fact that inanities, which had substantiated his charges, were made, no furtner action had been taken.
