FRENCH CRISIS.
CABINET AGREEMENT REACHED. TUESDAY THE TESTING TIME. BV CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT PARIS, April 7. Tuesday’B Parliamentary struggle promises to be extremely severe, it is an open secret that on Monday serious differeneves arose in the Cabinet over the financial measures which M. Demonzie (the new Minister for Finance) submitted. After several Cabinet meetings it was announced to-night that an .agreement had been reached, the finance scheme is approved and ready, and will be signed in the morning. The deputation will be asked in the afternoon to refer the proposals to the finance committee. A clash may come on this motion if the Premier (M. Herriot) demands an expression of confidence upon it. . The Paris correspondent o) the Morning Post says that the origin of the trouble is that the Government is no longer able to count upon small investors because of the huge post-war loans raised to pay for the restoration of war damage in certain areas., Two solutions are possible—the patient may be called upon to submit to an operation or to be • placed on a dietary regime. On the other hand a majority could be found for further taxes on alcohol, tobacco and other indirect taxes if M. Herriot is willing to. accept help from the Right. Party.
