GAME THAT MAY BE TAKEN) FEES AND CONDITION'S. * The latest issue of the Gazette declares the months of May, June, and July an open season in the Hawera Acclimatisation District for the shooting of cock pheasants, Californian quail, grey duck, and black swan. Il is laid down that no person shall take or kill any imported game or native game unless he is the holder of a license, provided that the occupier of the property and any one son or daughter of such occupier may take or kill without license during an open season imported or native game, which may be taken in the acclimatisation district in which such property is situated, or the occupier may in writing appoint one other person ’to shoot in his stead.. The license for this district is fixed at £l, and the number of game taken by one person in one day is not to exceed 10 cock pheasants, 20 Californian quail, and 25 head in all of grey duck and black swan. Shooting is not to begin earlieT than an hour before sunrise, and must cease nolb later than half an hour after sunset. Swivel and pump guns are prohibited. No gun shall be. us(?d the bore of which is larger than No. 12 at the muzzle, nor shall any gun lie used which exceeds 101 bin weight. In addition, the use of any automatic or autoloading gun has been prohibited unless it is converted into a gun capable of carrying two cartridges only. The use of any rifle or pea rifle or pump gun in the (taking or killing of game is also prohibited.
