There was bright weather at Glasgow when Scotland defeated England at Soccer by two goals to nil, thus winning the international championship. There were 100.000 spectators present. Play was fast, but except on the left wing neither attack combined effectively. All the halves were quick on the ball. Towards the interval Scotland played up splendidly, all the forwards showing to advantage. From some loose play Gallaeher scored a grand shot, and at half-time the score was: Scotland 1, England nil. On resumption Scotland continued to play better football, and England’s halves were busy checking clever, lor wards. Three minutes before the finish Gnllacher scored again, the match resulting: Scotland 2, England 0. ALL BLACK TOUR. A PROFIT OF £21,000. LONDON, April 3. It was announced at a Rugby Union meeting that the profits from the All Blacks’ tour were £21,000, which will, he divided among the clubs and counties. ATHLETIC CLUB. The newly-formed Hawera Athletic . Club had a first, try-out on Saturday, when the seniors journeyed to Elthain 1 and the juniors to Okaiawn, to play friendly games with the local clubs. Athletic went under in both contests, Eltliam seniors winning by 10 points •to 6, and Okaiawa juniors by 11 points to nil. In the senior game Athletic showed marked lack of team-work, whereas the scrummaging of Eltliam forwards and handling of the backs vindicated considerable practice already. When R. I. McGregor (who was unanimously elected captain of Athletic) gets his scrum more, evenly balanced, and can bring the backs together ns a machine, the Oxford-cum-Camhridge u coloursshould not he so easily lowered. - For Elf ham Page scored from a nice bout of passing from a scrum, while iCooper kicked a penalty goal and a goal from the field, the latter being a particularly neat piece of work. Lay (from a passing rush) and Grant (from a pass from a. line-out) scored for Athletic.
