The Prince of Wales, immediately he landed, visited the cenotaph, where Boy Scouts and Girl Guides were drawn up. He received addresses from the Governor, Gambian chiefs, the French community, and Moslems. The address of the chiefs was quaintly worded, and it included: “We are black and we cannot write 07 speak English, but we are English.’’ The address of lihe Moslems concluded with a moving tribute to the British Empire, which was described as “Your great castle, built with the best of perfume.”—Reuter,
