GOLF SEASON OPENS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Lovely weather conditions favoured the opening day for the season, and the course at Eltham was in capital order. • , ' 1 . ' Unfortunately the‘patron and president- were unable to be present, and the privilege of performing the opening ceremony fell to Mr Leo. Quin, club captain. ’ln his remarks Mr Quin said that steady work would, be put in on the greens, so that very shortly they would be in first-rate order. .The committee also intended to make improvements at the golf house which Would conduce to the comfort and convenience of players and visitors. He said they all* looked forward to a very successful season. To Mrs O. Hawken fell the honour of driving the first ball, and then the captain declared the links open for the season. , . The competition was a nine-hole mixed foursome, and [the- prize was won by Miss Baker and Belcher, who returned a net card of 28 (handicap 25). The next was Mrs de Launay and Ritter with 30 (handicap 28).
