LIGHTWEIGHT CONTEST. (by teLf.gr at*h— press association . INVERCbVRGJLL; April I. The fifteen-round' professional lightweight- contest between H. Leckie (Dunedin) and Wi J. Sycamore (Invercargill) for a purse of 60 sovs., was won by the former on-points, the fight goin the full distance. Both men were evenly matched. The contest resolved itself into a battle of styles, Sycamore preferring boxing of the fast," open, order, while Leek re exploited his favourite in-fighting tactics. Leckie was too clever for his opponent and was ahead hv a fair margin on points at the finish, although Sycamore made recreated, but fruitless attempts to land a knock-out over the final stages. The decision met with a mixed reception.
