AWATUNA.
' (From Our Own Correspondent). Life in Awatuna has been made a litle more strenuous during the pastfew weeks, due to the schools ■ being closed, and therefore the grown-nps have had considerable work to do to keep these young hopefuls either out of mischief or in radius of the home fires. But we- are thankful that so far, no infantile paralysis has broken out in this district. The milk yields are steadily falling at the- local factories, and it will soon be the- period for the annual overhauling of factory plant and the painting of buildings. The factory staffs at Awatuna and Taungatara have been lately engaged in the making of show cheese for the winter shows, and we hope the same success will attend their efforts as rewarded them last-winter. Farmers’ Union matters will doubtless get a big push forward here soon, as “Pansy” and “Bluebell” will not he so exacting in their claims on -the farmers’ time. 1 Many people will wonder just what 1 mean when I say we a-re sorry to lose Mr and Airs Bennett from the local toll gate. The gate no one wants, hut Air Bennett’s genial smile will be much missed and his kindly, courteous manner will he the balm salve to what have been a rather irritating complaint.
