Bennett are returning home by the Aorangi, leaving Vancouver on April 8. They are crossing to New York on the, Mauritania and expect an interesting trip. Friends of Miss C. Reilly, who is weaving for London shortly, will be interested to know that she will leave Hawera on Easter Monday, io connect with the Maunganui at Wellington, for Sydney, transferring then to the Australian Commonwealth liner Jervis Hay and travelling via Suez ( to London. All,will wish her a pleasant trip and an interesting and profitable time in the Old Country. Among Government officers who are retiring shortly is Mr •F. • Lundius, Crown Lands Ranger. During _ the Tarawera eruption he was at AVairoa, and assisted in the rescue of. A con'Vact has been let for the installation of a battery of 24 searchlights for the permanent illumination of Niagara Falls., The contract is. for 60,000d01. It is expected the installation will be completed in time to have the opening ceremonies 'on May 24. the birthday of Queen Victoria, after whom the park on the Ontario side of the Falls isf named. The power to operate the lights is being donated by the Ontario Hydro Electric Commission. — (Renter’s "Trade Service.) ■ “The biggest .ever,” is a risky claim to publish, but it was made for the great New Zealand cheese shown at the Imperial Exhibition at Wembley last year. It brought a correction from Wisconsin, and the figures relating to the big cheese niade in that State and shown in Chicago sustained the claim. Another mammoth cheese from New Zealand, is to ; be shown at Wembley thi s year, and the Dairy produce Board reports that this great cheese, together with a number of assorted sizes, are being shipped jn April, and final arrangements have been made in connection with its exhibition in London, i Not may years ago Adelaide tram travellers handed their coppers to a studious-looking conductor who was a brilliant Egyptologist and archaelogist.
