AT PUBLIC HOSPITALS
ABOLITION PROPOSED.

WELLINGTON, March 31.The provisional executive of the Hospitals’ Association, passed a resolution to be submitted to the annual conference, expressing disappioyal of the further subdivision of hospital districts, and the view that any proposal in that direction' should first oe submitted to the association. The Boa id of Health also passed a. resolution opposing the sub-division, of hospital districts. The Director-General of Health (Dr. T. H. A. Valintine) informed the pi ovisional executive of the Hospitals Association that he considered tie time had come for the abolition of honorary staffs, as hospitals were op.’*', bo all, and. patients had no right to expect the .services of the* medical profession free. Dr. Begg, honorary secretary of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, concurred in this view. . . Tlie provisional executive passed a resolution recommending the hosnita 1 hoards to adopt the suggestions of the Director-General that 'an honorary medical staff mav be remunerated for whole'or part time .services'.
