It is not generally known tliat_the British: Eftnipire is bearing over onequarite r of the' cost' of the admimstr-i----tion of the .League of Nations. The budget for the! seventh financial period of the League, which ha.- now been received by the Government of New Zealand, shows that the British Empire, is allotted £280,000 of the estimated allocation of £'1,000,000 for the expense of’ the League, for the year 1920. It is stated that a large section of the Lyttelton wntersiders are now thoroughly tired of the pin-pricking tactics they have been forced to- employ, and that if a fender appeared who was prepared to defy the authority of the federation officials, fully 1)0 per yeirt. of the men would follow him. According to the New Zealand Herald correspondent, questions are. being nslced, as to why Lyttelton should lx? selected as a battle ground between the federation and the shipping companies. The attitude of many of the men is that they have been “the lambs” long enough, and that it is time they were allowed to get back to normal working conditions. The following late entries have been received for the Associated Auction-I-pers’ Wanganui East sale, to lie held to - marrow (Wetlesday):—2oo M.S. ambs, 3 good bouse cows. 1 hack (har|bess and saddle), 1 porker. Special ■ntry on account Cave and Co. : 150 4 *and o-year ewes. —Advt.
