An official communique states: Ai column commanded by General Souza, in co-operation with the fleet and air force, effected a landing at Elkaznsequir, half-way uetween Ceeut and Tangier, on the exposed flank of the enemy. Weak resistance was ex. perieneed. It is noteworthy in this connection, that the zone which the Spanish general staff .elected for the long expected counter offensive is occupied by' A.nje.ra. tribesmen, formerly friendly to Spain, who recently adhered to the so-called Riflian republic. The re-opening of hostilities coincides with the Mohammedan fa - t of-Rama-dan, which the Riffians strictly observe.—Renter.
