CHRISTCHURCH, March 30. Although new cases of infantile paralysis continue to occur in the city area there are grounds for hope that the epidemic is slowly hut surely nearing the end of its course. Several of the cases reported during the past week started in a mild form, and parents were unaware that anything was wrong until some time after the patients were first- affected. The number of actual new cases shows a steady decline, and it is hoped the cold snap during the week-end may have a beneficial effect, bringing the epidemic nearer its close. AUCKLAND. March 30.
Three new cases of infantile paralysis are reported in the Auckland district.
Dr. Hughes, health officer, says that the position in the city and suburbs has improved considerably. The number of patients in hospital has been largely reduced. “We may expect a few cases in the ensuing month, hut the worst is over.”
POSITION AT WANGANUI. The position had not improved much in Wanganui and district yesterday.
