MANUTAHI.
(From Oiir Own Correspondent..) The rifle club, was exceptionally fortunate in having such loveiy line weather for it's opening day on Wednesday, March 25. There was a good attendance of the public and teams from the neighbouring districts (who came ti compete) at the local range on Messrs Geary Bros.’ property, at Manuiahi. After the matches were over a sumptuous afternoon tea was supplied hy the ladies, and was done full justice. About 4 p.m. the visitors dispersed and wended their way homewards well .satisfied with their day’s outing. The welcome rain last week must have done a deal of good in refreshin. the pastures and settling the dust on the roads. The gardens, too, will hone fit considerably after the drought of .he last few weeks. / In eonse.ouene of the vacancy caused by the deaths of the two J’s.P. n. the district, Mr. A. B. Mug go rid go lias been appointed a Justice of the Peace.
