Colonel Wertsopp, a. landowner of County Clare, told- the, Congress of the Farmers’ tin-ion that the inhabitants of some parts of Clare had been without ' fires, and been on the verge of starvation for months. They were even eating dead leaves. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
