AND UNSUCCESSFUL SEARCH,

A motor ear owned by Dr Murray, which was standing outside his residence in Synionds Street at 8.30 o’clock last night; was stolen. Outside police stations were advised, and half an hour later the ear was seen in, Otahuliu. •S’ergt. Parsons and Constable Stewart got into a car with Air Hart; a resident of Otaimhu, arid gave chase. They overtook the stolen car in Newmarket.. The constable jumped on to the funning board, but the ear, being of the- closedin type, he could not get. a proper grip* hut managed to open, the door arid made a grab at the driver. The latter put his foot, on the accelerator. The constable threw bis handcuffs at. the driver and then fell off. Tie was not. much hurt, but the pursuing car was delayed by picking him up. The stolen ear went, ahead at a terrific pace till it struck a telegraph post, which tore the. body of the ear ori one side nearly off. Three young, men got out and bolted towards the Domain.
The police continued the search all night without, success.
