DOG TRIALS.
AVAITOTAR A -WAY ER LEY CLUB. The ninth annual trials of the above club were commenced on* Wednesday, on Mr. Andrew Elmslie’s property at Waverlev, before, a large gathering oi the sporting public. The weather was glorious ancl the spectators were treated to a very fine exhibition of trial work by quite a, number of the competitors. An excellent luncheon was provided on the grounds by a number of willing helpers. The day; proved a most enjoyable oUe to tlie public. The .‘©suits of class I. are as follow: — Class L —Head, pull and hold in ring; about 800yds; time allowed, 12 n mutes. First prize, AfcDonald Alemnial Cup, value £2o and £6 cash, gec>nd prize, £3 and Air. Dallison’s troihy, value £1 Is. Third prize, £).- — E. Leahy’s ‘Spark,’’ 46 points, 1; M. Stott's “Scotty,” 45, 2; R. Guthrie’s ‘Chep,’’ 44, 3; G. Paddison’s “Toss,” 11, 4/ There were 30 entries in this 4ass, and the judge, Air. J. H. Baker, eniarked that, the work was of a liigli standard throughout; there being little to choose between the .placed dogs. Owing to the large entries. Class 11. was not completed on AYednesclay.
