RABBIT BOARD CONFERENCE
(BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATIONFEILDING, March 24. At the conference of rabbit boards to-day representatives were present from Kiwitea, Oroua, Manawatu, Eastern Poliangina,. Uniutoi, Apiti, Pohangina, Wangaehu, Cheltenham, Hunterville, Rangiotu and Patea. Mr A. P. Francis (Kiwitea) presided, and was elected permanent chairman of the conference. , A discussion arose on the inferior quality of poison supplier! by the Government. It was decided that the conference secretary collect complaints with the object of making specific charges to the Department of Agriculture. i A remit from Manawatu that boards be exempted in the matter of making returns of poisons sold as specified under the Poisons Act, 1908, was* lost. A second remit from Manawatu, that the Government lie asked to indent wire netting was carried. Members emphasised the need for netting off certain areas. The Umutoi • Board’s remit that- no prosecution lie made against any person unless bv resolution of the board was lost. Delegates pointed out that this matter was left to the inspectors. The election of boards was discussed, delegates being of the opinion that it hoard should be elected for two years. The matter was left to the executive to interview the Minister. It was resolved that all proprietary prepared poison he subject to a Government test, and to lie sold with a guaranteed poison content. The conference carried a remit that hoards have power to provide accommodation for employees on similar lines to local bodies. It was resolved to ask for machinery for the amalgamation of two or more boards. It was resolved- that the next conference should, include delegates of all hoards in the Wellington province.
