HAWERA AUXIL'IARY. The annual meeting of the Hawera Auxiliary of the Rritis'h and Foreign Bible Societies was held in St. John’s school-room yesterday afternoon, Rov. 11. W. Moniagjhaii, presiding. Rev. E. N*. Goring led in prayer and Air. Greenwood read a, portion of Scripture. Miss O'. Tiaiit sang a, r 010. Rev. David Oalder, 8.A., the Doinmioiii” secretary of the -society, and Atiss Treadwell., secretary for tiie Taranaki. Hawke’s Bay and Wanganui districts. Were also, present, the former giving a very heartening addresis on the work and progresisi of the r.ocietv. The! last annuia'l repiort- of the New Zealqnirl branch: showed, he said, that last year over £4900 had been remitted to the bead office in London for the purposes of the society.'
For the forthcoming year, Airis. R. L. Pease, was elected president, all the ministers of the, town vice-,presidents, Air. R.. S. Sage treasurer and Airs. L. A. Taylor isee.refia.ry. The rniniisters present agreed to make Anri] 29 “Bible Sunday’’ and to bring the aims of the, society before their respective, congregations on that dav. and the collectors will meet on Aipri 1 23 in order to prepare, for the year*** collecting campaign.
