John Thomas Martin, a middle-aged dairy farmer, of Pembroke Road, a married man with a large family, was arrested on a charge of the murder of a young man named Thomas Hendrick’, aged 19, who was found dying on the. roadside within the borough at 7 o’clock last evening, and succumbed before arriving at the hospital. A. sihashed push-bike was found beside the victim, who was terribly injured, and signs were discovered that the body hadLeen dragged about sixty feet, apparently by a motor vehicle, which had disappeared. After exhaustive inquiries, Martin was arrested at midnight at his home. This morning a capital charge was made against him, and accused was remanded in custody for a week, bail not being asked for.
