A MELBOURNE EPISODE

BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT MELBOURNE, March 16. The Chief Commissioner of Police has suspended from duty Detective-In-spector Olholm (head of the railway detective branch). Detective O’Sulli- , van (second in charge of the same branch), and Detectives McPherson and Fowler. It is alleged the four men visited a suburban hotel and seized a quantity of goods which they alleged were stolen. The proprietor, who denied knowledge of the goods, which he flaid were left at the hotel by a man, was threatened with police action, and t rather than face the proceedings stated he agreed to a certain suggestion, and a cash sum running into four figiires changed hands. The four detectives have been suspended pending investigation.
