RECENT LITIGATION.

CHUB Oil SESSION’S COMPLAINT. REV. S. ROBERTSON ORB’S CASE. /BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, March 13. Following the civil action brought by George Ayson against the Rev. S. Robertson Orr, on Tuesday last in the Magistrate’s 'Court, the session of St. Andrew’s Church, Wellington, held a specially summoned meeting yesterday for the purpose of considering the situation as it affected their minister apd his congregation. The following resolution was passed unanimously : “That this meeting expresses its firm confidence in its minister and grave displeasure that he should have been harassed with persistent reports of impending trouble, followed by having to defend wlmt they believe to be an unwarranted civil action on the very eve of his departure for America. 'His preaching of righteousness, both for the public and for the individual citizen, has, in their opinion, brought upon Mr. Orr grave hardship. They protest against it being legally possible that such actions as this last can wait so many months and then be the subject of a short service summons, that entails both inconvenience and undue hardship.”

Inter alia, a letter was read from a director of Stantons, Ltd., who acted as Mr. Orris agent in the purchase of the car. The writer stated that he valued the car at about £loo', and told Mr. Orr the battery was “out,” which is' a shop term for exhausted. Air. On- understood him to mean that the battery was out of the car, though the writer did not (know that till the detectives came to him to trace the battery.

After considering the matter from a general point of view, the session passed a resolution asking the Prime Minister whether any action could, he taken :o avoid a recurrence of actions similar to the one referred to in the case of ministers of religion or any reputable citizen. ■’>
