HOW TO LAY OILCLOTH.
The following is a splendid method of putting oilcloth on a kitchen table, in drawers or on shelves. Mix flour and water to a paste of medium consistency. Cover the back of the oilcloth and lay it on the surface to be covered. With a small roller, such as is used in mounting pictures, if such is, available, or a hehvv cloth folded into a pad, begin at the centre and carefully <' smooth out all hubbies as you work toward the outside. Go over and over it until it has dried sufficiently to adhere. If a table top is being covered, allow enough oilcloth to fold under the edge of the table, and mitre the corners to make a neat, job. A'table covered in this manner has very much the appearance of a porcelain top, and the oilcloth lasts considerably longer than if out on carelessly. Small linoleum rugs are sometimes used on a varnished kitchen floor. To nrevent slipping, apply a coat of shallac to the back of the rugs, put them in the place desired, and weight down until thoroughly dry. They will remain in position indefinitely.
