THE AUTHORITIES’ ATTITUDE. BOARD TO MAKE PROTEST. The failure of the University Senate to grant a Taranaki scholarship to a pupil of the Neyv Plymouth Boys’ High School, J. Wright, who at the recent university scholarship examinations obtained 1357 marks and thereby secured a place on the credit list, y\-as drawn attention to at yesterday ’s meeting of the Taranaki Education Board. The chairman (Mr S. G. Smith, M.P.) said he felt that the authorities were trying to discredit the scholarships with a y-ievr to their being yvitlidrawn and the money so made available for other purposes. The matter was one in which the Board 'should take a really live interest. The Board decided to protest against the non-ayvarding of the scholarship in question. •
