SENTENCES AT GTSBORNE. (BY TELEGRAPH—PRESS .“SOCTATIONGISBORXF,, March 10. At the Supreme Court Rawiri Wharchirign, for burglary at Tokomnru Bay, was sentenced to 18 months hard labour; Allred Joseph Vance Ryan, alias O’Brien, for false 'pretences, was sentenced to three years’ reformative treatment; Ihirera Waikare, a, youn&, well-c-ducateci Maori girl, deaf and dumb, for forgery and uttering, was admitted to probation; Tuhatea Piripi, on four charges of horse stealing, also forgery and uttering, who appealed to his Honor to ‘‘take pity on a poor sinner,” was sentenced to two years’ reformative treatment. CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. GISBORNE, March 10. The Supreme Court was engaged today in hearing a claim for £1137 damages in respect to personal injuries received by John William Boniface, labourer, against the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat Co., the allegation being that plaintiff’s leg was injured through an allegedly defective protective apparatus surrounding an electric fan at the freezing works. The case has been partly heard. AT 1 MASTERTON. MAS,TER,TON. March 10. The Supreme Court sittings opened fco-clay. Judge McGregor congratulated the district on it® apparent freedom from serious crime, stating that there were only two da,sets, neither of which were very serious. The Grand l Jury found true hillsi iys ca.se si of Leslie. George Fraser - , of alleged theft, of a motor-cycle, and Mitai Waka. of alleged carnal knowledge. Owing to the illness of Waaka, who is in lrosoital, tire judge granted an adjournment of the case till .the next sitting in September.
