CHRISTMAS GIFT TO BLIND CHILDREN.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —I beg the liberty of your columns to express to the children of your district the sincere thanks ,of the trustees of the Jubilee Institute for the Blind, and of the children under their care, for their most generous Christmas gift to the institute school. The sum of one penny each was suggested, and the children have responded so magnificently that the total present from the school children of the Dominion amounts to nearly £3OO. This is to be spent in equipping the school with additional materials essential to the education of the blind —typewriters, Braille machines, relief globe and-maps, Braille literature, and so on, < Mr. Frank Norris, of Masterton, kindly organised the appeal, and education boards readily co-operated. To them, too, we express our warm thanks. A touching feature of the response .was the fact that so many contributions were accompanied by charming messages of sympathy, hope, and goodwill to the little children of the blind world.—l am, etc..
