FLOODED U.S. RIVERS.
DYNAMITE BREAKS ICE JAMBS. BY CABLE-PRESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT NEW YORK, Feb. 13. Floods caused by heavy rains and the melting of snow and ice did extensive damage in New York and. six other eastern States. Ice jambs in northern New York State hooded parts of Schenectady County and cut off the highway traffic. Dynamite was used to break the ice in some streams. In New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts the rivers are reported to he rising rapidly. Despatches from Pittsburg stated that, at the present rate of rising, the waters would reach flood, mark to-day. Falling temperatures promise a temporary relief in New York and vicinity.
