JUDGE’S RULING
BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received March 6, 1.35 p.m.) LONDON, March 5. After the prosecution had, closed in the Hobbs case, the judge overruled the defence’s contention that Sir Hari Singh’s presence was necessary to sustain the count of conspiracy to cheat and defraud. The judge ruled that there was no evidence to go to the jury to support the charges of conspiracy to steal or of (receiving in this country property stolen abroad, but there was evidence -v, for the jury on the charge of conspiring in this country to cheat and defraud Sir Hari Singh.—Reuter.
