The annual meeting of the United Fire Brigades’ Association opened here this morning, 121 delegates'attending. Superintendent A. Morrison, of Hawera, presided. He said the object of the meeting was primarily to improve on the imperfect organisation that existed for the protection of lives and property of citizens. A remit was carried asking the Government to increase the subsidy in demonstration year to £IOOO. The conference is proceeding.
