A. conference of the National Trades Council appointed a committee- with a view to securing greater unity in the trade union movement, with, the ob'ject, especially, of enforcing a trade union industrial workers’ charter. A conference of the Miners’ Federation at Blackpool was marked bv an acrimonious discussion between Messrs Hodges and Cook, past and present .secretaries, the former counselling a more conciliatory attitude in the efforts to secure a redress of grievances. The conference Ultimately decided to remit the wages proposals to* districts pending further investigations;
