The critical question of trade union political levies was. discussed by Cabinet. who considered the report of a committee presided over by Lord Birkenhead which, it is stated, recommended legislation on, the subject without delay in, view of the strong Conservative feeling throughout the country in favour of such action. According to the newspapers the majority of Cabinet favoured acceptance of the recommendation. Meanwhile, notice has been given of both Labour and Liberal amendments for the rejection, of Mr. MacQuiston’s Bill.
