FINAL TEST
NOTES ON THE PLAY
DISAPPOINTING DISPLAY. HONOURS WITH ENGLAND. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. (Received Feb. 28, 10.55 a.m.) SYDNEY,' Feb. 28. The weather is fine for the cricket. The Herald, commenting on the match, says: “With the exception of Kippax and Ponsford, the Australian batting was very disappointing in results and as a test match display. Cricket honours of the day certainly belong to England. The bowling, without giving an appearance of unusual hostility, maintained a high standard of attack, and had valuable support in excellent ground fielding. Kitner is deserving of high commendation for the persistent and purposive nature of his attack. Though one whereupon lefthanded bowling does not usually command success, he kept his field so well placed, bowled so accurately in the matter of length and direction, that runs were got from him only with difficulty. It was steady, heady bowling. Tate also bowled well, better than the wickets gained indicated.”
