CRICKET.
THE YEAR’S CRICKETERS. WISDEN’S ESTIMATE. BY CABLE —PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Feb. 28, 9 a.m. LONDON, I< T eb, 27. Wisden’s for 1925 names, the South Africans, Taylor and Catterall, and the Einglishmen Macißryan, WhysaJl and Tyldesley, as the five cricketers of the year. ( The editor in his notes says: “Throughout the year the effect of the Australians’ post-war victories was noticeable in all estimates of English cricket, otherwise much done by English play would have received greater recognition, notably Tate’s and Giiiigan’s wonderful bowling against the Africans. i GiTligan’s lack of success in Australia is unimportant, because he does not possess the stamina for such long drawn battles. However, everyone recognised Tate as the great bcwler he is.”—Aus.-N.Z/ Cable Assn.
